今年も昨年に引き続き、OMM LITE / BIKEに、出店と出走の両方で参加させていただきました。
決められたコースをただ速く進むのではなく、フィールドの状況を読み、自分たちでルートを選びながら目的地を目指す。
仲間と相談し、ときには迷い、景色や自然を楽しみながら進んでいくことに、OMM LITE / BIKEならではの魅力があります。
競技でありながら、自然のなかで遊ぶことそのものを、二日間かけて存分に味わえます。
私自身は、昨年が初参加でしたが「なぜ、今まで興味を持たなかったのだろう」と後悔すら感じるほど楽しいイベントです。
そして、運営の皆さんの熱量が伝わってくるほどとても高く、その場にいるだけでもとてもワクワクします。
今年の白馬は、晴天と雨。
晴天と雨。
まさにフィールドらしい天候に恵まれ、二日間を通して最高に楽しい時間を過ごすことができました！
会場では、今回も多くのOWL MILSユーザーの皆さまにお会いすることができました。
MILS LENS越しに見る白馬の景色はいかがでしたでしょうか。
樹林帯やトンネルへの出入りなど、光の状態が素早く変化する競技において、MILS LENSの透過率と視認性は、大きなアドバンテージになったのではないかと思います。
実際に、
「見やすくて調子が良かった」
「景色を楽しみながら走れた」
「樹林帯でも外さなくて良かった」
といった声も直接お聞きすることができ、私たちにとっても大変嬉しい二日間となりました。
二日目の雨のなかでも、サングラスを着用している方が多く、雨や飛来物から目を守るプロテクションとして活用されている姿が印象的でした。
特にBIKEでは、先行車から跳ね上がる水しぶきや、下りでスピードが出た際に雨粒が直接目に入ることを防ぐうえでも、アイウェアが重要な役割を果たします。
私自身、二日目は日焼け止めを塗り忘れてしまい、雨天にもかかわらず頬が少し赤くなっていました。
雨が降っていても、紫外線がなくなるわけではありません。
天候が変化しても、目や身体を守る意識を持ち続けることの大切さを、改めて感じた二日間でした。
命と身体を守るウェアや、フィールドで使われる道具は、自然と人が対峙するためではなく、自然をより安全に、より深く楽しむために進化を続けてきました。
アイウェアもまた、その文化と文脈を受け継ぐ道具のひとつです。
目を守り、快適な視界とかけ心地を届けるため、OWL MILSもこれからさらに進化を続けてまいります。

Following on from last year, we once again took part in OMM LITE / BIKE both as an exhibitor and as competitors.
Rather than simply following a predetermined course as quickly as possible, participants read the conditions of the terrain, choose their own routes, and make their way toward each destination.
The unique appeal of OMM LITE / BIKE lies in discussing the route with your teammate, sometimes getting lost, and continuing forward while enjoying the scenery and the natural environment around you.
Although it is a competition, it is also an event that allows you to fully experience the simple joy of playing in nature over the course of two days.
Last year was my first time taking part, and I enjoyed it so much that I even found myself wondering why I had never been interested in it before.
The passion and energy of the organizers can be felt throughout the entire event, and simply being there fills you with excitement.
This year in Hakuba, we experienced both sunshine and rain.
We were also very happy to hear comments directly from participants such as:
“The visibility was great, and I felt really good out there.”
“I was able to enjoy the scenery while racing.”
“I didn’t need to take them off, even in the forest.”
Hearing these comments made the two days especially rewarding for us.
Even in the rain on the second day, many participants continued to wear sunglasses. It was impressive to see eyewear being used as protection from rain and flying debris.
This is particularly important during BIKE, where eyewear helps protect the eyes from water splashed up by riders ahead, as well as raindrops hitting the eyes directly when travelling at speed on descents.
I forgot to apply sunscreen on the second day, and despite the rainy weather, my cheeks became slightly red.
Rain does not mean that ultraviolet radiation disappears.
These two days reminded us once again of the importance of continuing to protect our eyes and bodies, even as the weather and conditions change.
Clothing that protects our lives and bodies, along with the equipment used in the field, has not evolved so that people can confront nature.
It has evolved so that we can experience nature more safely and more deeply.
Eyewear is also one of the tools that carries on this culture and philosophy.
OWL MILS will continue to evolve in order to protect the eyes and provide comfortable vision and a comfortable fit.
